J2FIT Weightlifting is a coast-to-coast weightlifting program dedicated to the art and science of coaching, training, and the pursuit of power. Originally established in New York City, J2FIT Weightlifting has expanded globally with the release of online weightlifting programming for athletes and coaches alike to train under the leadership of USA Weightlifting Advanced Sport coaches, NCAA college strength coaches, and competitive athletes. Additionally, J2FIT Weightlifting has launched in San Franscisco in the fall of 2016.
Founded in 2012 by Mike Dewar and Mike Barbot, J2FIT has grown from an online blog resource to a fully-fledged strength and conditioning brand. The culture created by two passionate, experience, and driven coaches has been at the root of J2FIT's successes in training athletes, coaches, Olympic weightlifters, sports athletes, CrossFitters, and most recently, online athletics.
Mike Dewar, Co-Founder and Head Coach (New York City), holds a Masters and Bachelors degree in Exercise Physiology, with additional experience working with athletic populations. Additionally, Mike is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) of the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Advanced Sports Performance Coach of USA Weightlifting, and Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at New York University. Working with both athletes, weightlifters, and CrossFitters has allowed Mike to gain experience in multiple arenas of sport, with key emphasis on developing powerful and explosive athletes. Mike is actively competing in USA Weightlifting meets.
Mike Barbot, Co-Founder and Head Coach (San Francisco), is an Advanced Sport Coach of USA Weightlifting, CrossFit Level One Coach, and NCAA Strength and Conditioning Coach at Notre Dame de Namur University. Mike is a former Division 1 Baseball player who transitioned into competitive weightlifting post his collegiate career, dedicated to developing young athletes and lifters. Mike is actively competing in USA Weightlifting meets.
Our mission is clear. We are dedicated to the art and science of coaching atheltes and lifters of all abilities to become better weightlifters, atheltes, and individuals. We will hold all atheltes to a standard of excellence, to doing the little things, and to strengthening our community through barbells, sweat, and daily effort.
We will continue our relentless pursuit of power through dedicated coaching, ongoing education and experience opportunities, barbell clubs, online programming, community events, and more. Empowering others through strength and sport is one of the most rewarding aspects of what we do every day.
